Hi reader,

Welcome back or hello if you are new here! Today we will be talking about the 2025 change, how we can help and about our VoIP phone systems. Don’t worry, I am not going to give you too much information but a brief outline of what’s to come and what we can do to make sure you and your business is ready…

Do you think you’re ready for the 2025 change? If not, now is your time to be prepared and come and join us here at Kiwi! You might be sitting there thinking, “what is the 2025 change'“ Let me explain…

(This blog is not here to scare you or make you rush into decisions based upon the information I am about to explain, so please don’t worry!)

What’s happening in 2025?

From December 2025 the traditional copper wires, which are underneath us, allowing us to make calls without the internet are becoming end of life. Services in the Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) will be switched off and withdrawn from service. This meaning without the internet there will be no way of making a call. Don’t panic, we are here to help you!

So, if there is no longer a PSTN, What happens to our lines?

All landline technology will be replaced by digital, this meaning people across the UK will have to have internet connection in order to place a call. Which shouldn’t be too much of a worry as most people these days do have access to the internet! Everything in the world around us has progressed and most things are now done through the internet, our phones, computers, iPads/tablets, TV’s, the cloud, since the pandemic lots of business calls are held via Zoom, Teams, etc… some cars even have Wi-Fi. So it is now time for our landlines to change! The cooper cables which have allowed our technology be able to be so advanced now deserve a break! Some which have been underneath us since the 19th century!!!!

How we can help…

Our VoIP phone systems are here to help you overcome this shift in society. VoIP phone systems were the most significant shift within telephone networks in 112 years. VoIP is something most people are acquainted with but for those who are unsure… VoIP stands for ‘Voice over Internet Protocol’ and refers to the technology used to make and receive calls over the internet. It’s quite simple really! It also has some great features included!

  • VoIP phone systems allow you to make and receive calls, the audio from calls are broken down into packets (a packet is a unit of data).

  • The packets are transmitted across the internet and are directed to the other person who is involved within the call.

  • The packets are then reassembled in the proper sequence and heard as audio during the call.

  • A connection between your phone and your switch or router in your Local Area Network is established (LAN).

  • When you dial a telephone number, your IP phone instructs your VoIP service provider to contact the other party on the other end of the line.

  • Your VoIP service initiates the call and facilitates the transmission of data packets between your IP phone and the server.

A VoIP system may be a better choice for individuals who are just getting started or who are working with a limited budget. Why? Calls themselves are often less expensive (UK calls are always free), and there is less technology to purchase up front. Due to the fact that all upgrades are performed automatically in the cloud, the price can be reduced or no maintenance costs at all associated with using the cloud service. There are no new, clunky pieces of technology to buy and install. Which is always a positive! So what are you waiting for?

Many options are available.

Even though it is a cheaper alternative, a VoIP phone system is still be loaded with features. A VoIP phone system from Kiwi Voice and Data may be configured to send your voicemails to you chosen email address, monitor missed calls never miss a deal again! You are also able to advertise to customers while they wait on hold, you can record calls, and transfer calls or park them, if you put them on park 1, as an example, the other person is able to go onto their phone system and pick the call up from the park they are sat in, in this case it is park 1!

VoIP is scalable and adaptable.

It is considerably easier to add or remove users from a VoIP system than it is to do so with a conventional corporate phone system because of the nature of the technology. If your company grows at a rapid pace, a VoIP system will be able to keep up. Adding extra phones to a VoIP system is straightforward, as is deleting those that are no longer in use. A VoIP phone system is a very adaptable kind of phone system.

VoIP phone systems, rely on a reliable and quick internet connection. If your broadband were to lose connection so, would you VoIP phones. Of course, we don’t want that but with us at KIWI Voice and Data we not only promise you 100% Wi-Fi coverage but also a reliable and fast speeds, so you will never have to worry about losing connection.
